Why tuberculosis is a global problem and how to solve it
Dr. Barry Walker is an immunologist with over 20 years of research experience in mycobacterial infections. Born and raised in Australia, Dr. Walker studied at the University of Western Australia in Perth then moved to the UK for his postdoctoral work, where he first became involved in tuberculosis research. For the past 18 years, Dr. Walker served as Principal Scientist at the National Institute of Biological Standards and Control in London. In June 2012, Dr. Walker joins the staff of Aeras as the Senior Director of Pre-Clinical Development. We spoke with Dr. Walker about his personal experiences with TB, what fascinates him about the disease, and how drug-resistant forms of tuberculosis threaten the air we breathe. read more |
